Assistant Professor Methodology & Statistics The Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences, Institute of Psychology, the Methodology and Statistics unit has a vacancy for a position as an Assistant Professor Methodology & Statistics (1 position, 1.0 FTE)Preferred starting date: August, 2024Key responsibilitiesYou will contribute to the teaching program of the Methodology and Statistics unit at both the Bachelor, Master, and PhD level, and will supervise students at different stages of education (foreseen courses to be taught include Psychometrics at bachelor level, Regression Modelling and Statistical Consulting at master level);Your research should be relevant to Statistics in Psychology, and should ideally focus on one of our four areas of research: 1) Applied Psycho- and Sociometrics; 2) Statistical Learning and AI; 3) Neuro-imaging Statistics; and 4) Responsible Research Methods;You are able to program software in R, Python, C++ or similar languages and have experience using statistical packages such as SPSS, SAS, or STATA.You will act as a statistical consultant for researchers in the Institute of Psychology and PhD candidates from the Leiden University graduate school of Social and Behavioural Sciences;You will be expected to apply for research grants from Dutch and European funding agencies.You contribute to the organization (and administration) at the level of the unit and the instituteYou contribute to a positive work environment, with open science transparency and a collaborative, inclusive team environment as core values. Selection criteriaA PhD in a topic relevant to Statistics for Behavioural Sciences or Psychometrics as well as an excellent research and teaching background;You are able to supervise and conduct empirical research independently and ideally have experience in writing external grants;You have experience and affinity with teaching at the academic level (including supervision of bachelor/master theses);Both English and Dutch language proficiency (or the intention to obtain these) is required.About the faculty The Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences consists of five institutes: Centre for Science and Technology Studies, Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology, Political Science, and Psychology. Terms and conditions We offer a temporary position for a maximum of 12 months in connection with the replacement of parental leave, maternity leave, and a research grant, initially without the option of extension. Nevertheless it is not ruled out that due to staff movements, the option of extension does open up. Salary range from €4332 (11.0) to €6737 (12 max) gross per month (pay scale 11 or 12 in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities).
